Puijo Hill is known as a vantage point. Three observation towers have been built to Puijo due to the scenery. The first tower was built of wood in 1856. It was built by the merchant and manufacturer C.R. Dahlström. The second tower was built by the Kuopio branch of the Finnish Tourist Association. The brick tower was completed in 1906 and it was demolished in 56 years later because construction work on the current tower began. The illustration of the cotton bag depicts all of Puijo's towers.
